CD-R /DVD-R d’archivage 24 K Gold-EP
In order to meet the demand from the archiving sector (medical, institutional, audio and video studios), FTI has developed a range of CD-Rs / DVD-Rs offering great stability over time (more than 100 years) using a two-component reflective layer :
- the first in silver, guarantees optimum compatibility with the different CD/DVD players on the market.
- The second, in 24-carat gold, ensures the media’s stability and therefore the readability of the data stored on it for more than a century.

This new 24 K Gold-EP technology offers important advantages when compared to the “Gold” technology traditionally used for archiving media. Actually the gold brings a greater stability to the data media but presents the following faults when not combined with a layer of silver as in the 24 K Gold-EP technology :
- bad compatibility with CD/DVD players on the market due to the weak reflective properties of gold
- The relatively soft surface of the gold-carrying material allows air bubbles to appear through the absorption of humidity, a phenomenon which irreversibly damages the reading of the data.
