By DVD pressing we mean the industrial manufacture of Digital Versatile Discs.

As soon as the required quantity exceeds 200 units, we advise you to opt for pressing technology as the best solution from the point of view of quality and price.

There are three DVD pressing formats:
> the DVD5 format with a capacity of 4.7 GB (single layer, single sided)
> the DVD9 format with a capacity of 8.5 GB (double layer, single sided)
> the DVD10 format with a capacity of 9.5 GB (single layer, double sided)

The manufacture of a fourth format called DVD18 with a capacity of 17.1 GB (double layer, double sided) is theoretically possible but has not been widely adopted by the video industry.

The different stages of industrial pressing:
Stage 1: First of all, we produce a glass master from your input media which will allow us to produce a stamper. This is an industrial mould made of nickel, used in high-speed plastic injection.
Stage 2: We inject liquid polycarbonate into the mould in order to obtain a transparent disc 0.6 mm thick containing the binary encoding on your master.
Stage 3: In the case of a DVD5, all that remains to do is to cover the injected disc with a layer of aluminum which produces a mirror effect (to reflect the laser beam) and to stick it to a second completely blank disc of equal dimensions, to obtain a DVD with the regulation thickness of 1.2 mm
In the case of a DVD9 or DVD10, two discs each containing binary format information are glued together to obtain the right thickness.
Stage 4: the final step consists of screen or offset printing your visual (label) on to the DVD’s surface to arrive at a product ready for distribution.
